Kiva Rose is an herbalist in the Anima Medicine Woman Tradition. She teaches and practices down to earth herbalism, nutrition and healing based on the same principles our ancestors followed within an adaptive and contemporary context.

Kiva is the author of the forthcoming The Medicine Woman’s Herbal, an in depth guide to common nourishing herbs, traditional and wild foods, and healing the Medicine Woman way. She makes her home in the Mogollon Mountains of the Gila bioregion of New Mexico, where she and her partners, Wolf and Loba, live in a small off the grid cabin at the Anima Botanical and Women’s Sanctuary.Visit her Blog, The Medicine Woman's Roots.

Thank you-I really enjoyed the sections on energetics and fermentation...I was reminded of earlier this evening when I finally tried the Elderflower cordial I had made. I held the second sip in my mouth and felt a slight tingle...it was a delicious "aha" moment. I am learning so much and actually using what I learn...it's all good.

First of all John, you asked all the right questions! Me and Sasha, who I see has also left a comment, often talk and wonder about Kiva's daily life. We're sort of in awe.
Kiva I'm stoked that you are going to be covering energetics in your book, and giving methods to really experience what you are talking about. Right now I feel like I don't have a grasp on that, it's always been elusive for me, but I know you will make it accessible.
I really appreciate how you guys talked about the new generation of herbalists. It's very exciting. All the props in the world to Susan Weed, Rosemary Gladstar, Michael Moore, etc. for laying the foundation, now I can't wait to see what the younger folk bring to it. And Kiva, you are the leading voice of this generation.
Also Kiva, hearing you talk about faery tales and herb folklore made me wonder if you've seen the book Witchcraft Medicine? It was written by three German anthropologists and really gets to the root of those subjects. Pretty fascinating.

This was amazingly helpful. I have always felt drawn to plants and have bought sooo many books on herbalism. They all have their good points, but it's all so overwhelming if you're just starting. That's why I loved the Kit I got from you. Simple. Easy. Intimidation-free. Thank you so much for all of this. Oh, by the way, the best thing I've found for stomach bugs my kids catch at school is 1 teaspoonful of betonite clay slowly mixed into a cupful of chamomile tea.

That was an enjoyable audio Kiva. Glad to hear somone so young is doing so much good to help educate the world. You must have an amazing life back there in the Gila wildlands of Southwest New Mexico. I really like the information on energies and getting to know the plants. Energy has a special meaning with me since my experience with my deceased mother and I when I apparently died twice on the operating table. Her energy brought me back. I can still feel that hug. I subscribed to your blog and would like to purchase your book.
