Where do I begin?

If you are asking this question, then Herbal Basics is for you.

Herbal Basics is inspirational, and will quickly teach you all the basic herbal preparations you need to know to get the most out of this site.

Though the Herbal Medicine Making Kit is not a prerequisite for this course, Kit owners can consider Herbal Basics the Herbal Medicine Making Kit...Part 2.

Here are a few important features of Herbal Basics...

  • Each lesson uses easy to find, dried herbs. Therefore, you can do the lessons any time of year no matter where you live. Once they are all posted, you can do them all in a week, or over the course of several. It's up to you.

  • Each lesson features a video demonstration as well as a written lesson (for those on slower connections).

  • We give you exact measurements and walk you through every step, exactly like we did in the Herbal Medicine Making Kit. The only difference is that you will have to purchase the herbs at iWantHerbs.com or at your local herb shop (preferable).

  • You can work on Herbal Basics either before or while you are working on other lessons or using other features on HerbMentor.com.

Where do I start?

RIGHT HERE. Taking the ten minutes to watch this will help you fully understand what this course is all about...

If you have trouble streaming this video, you can download it by clicking the bottom right of the video player. Or, if you are on "dial-up" or slow connection, listen to the audio instead. Lessons are also in written form, so broadband internet is NOT required.

What herbs and supplies do I need for this course?

For your convenience, we list the herbs and supplies you'll need at the start of each lesson. We did our best to use herbs in multiple lessons to lower your purchasing costs.

We always encourage people to support their local herb shops.

If you want to order online, we give you the exact amount you need to order, and then we link directly to the page on Mountain Rose Herbs where you can purchase the herb or supply.

You can also make your shopping list, and visit iWantHerbs.com.
